Would you be willing to talk about HIV to educate others?

Public speaking is hard, and scary for some. Would you get up in front of people to tell your story and educate others?

I love public speaking and have become a very passionate Aids Activist! Two weeks ago I was in my state's capitol speaking with Senators and State Representatives......putting a face to Aids. We need State funding to match Federal funding or we lose. This means that so many w/o insurance will not get necessary treatment/medicines, social/psych help, peer support, nutrition and housing assistance etc.

Last week I was a large offshoot of the UAB here locally speaking to nurses/docs/staff/educators regarding peri-natal and being able to have healthy pregnancies and HIV negative babies.

End of April I will be in Memphis, more in a learning situation...the more I know the more I can help to educate others.

I have been HIV pos for 7yrs and have just recently started HAART. I am an older white woman.....it is important for folks to realize that no one is immune to the virus if they aren't not educated and play safe.

Yes I would take the mic and speak out about HIV.  When I was diagnosed at age 20,  I spoke at several north Jersey colleges and high schoolswiht the New Jersey AIDS consortium educating the students of the dangers of unsafe sex and dirty needles. And that even at their young age like me they were vulnerable to teen pregnancy and disease.  Hopefully I made a difference. Joanna S.
